Prince William County Public Schools is excited to partner with Virginia Commonwealth University!
The PWCS-VCU RTR program is a highly selective teacher apprenticeship/residency program that recruits, trains, and supports teachers for high-needs and hard-to-staff schools. Participants earn a full salary and benefits while they learn to become a classroom teacher.
RTR program participants learn alongside PWCS teachers for one to two years while completing their bachelor's degree or graduate degree for free. For the undergraduate pathways, a minimum of an associate degree is required with an overall 2.5 GPA. For the graduate-level pathways, a bachelor's degree is required with an overall 3.0 GPA.
Program Pathways include:
- Elementary Education (undergraduate or graduate)
- Special Education General Curriculum K-12 (bachelor's or master's degree)
- Secondary Education in either English, Math, History, or Sciences (master's degree only)
Applications for the 2025-26 school year are accepted until February 1, 2025.
