Over & Under Capacity Schools


Parents may only request a transfer to move from a school that is over 120%  of its capacity  to a school that is under 80% of its capacity.  

Please note, you may only request a transfer to a school listed below as significantly under capacity.   

Elementary schools projected to be at over 120% of the school's capacity and from which parent/guardians may request a transfer: 

Please note, this school is closed to all incoming elementary school transfers for the 2024-25 school year.
  • Covington-Harper Elementary
  • Dumfries Elementary
  • Pattie Elementary
  • The Nokesville School
 Elementary schools to which students may transfer to (if leaving a school listed on the left) because they are under 80% of the school's capacity:
  • Alvey Elementary
  • Bristow Run Elementary
  • Cedar Point Elementary
  • Glenkirk Elementary
  • Innovation Elementary
  • Mountain View Elementary
  • Old Bridge Elementary

Middle schools projected to be at over 120% of the school's capacity and from which parent/guardians may request a transfer: 

Please note, this school is closed to all incoming middle school transfers for the 2024-25 school year.

 Middle schools to which students may transfer to (if leaving a school listed on the left) because they are under 80% of the school's capacity:
  • Graham Park Middle
  • Potomac Middle
  • Woodbridge Middle

Colgan High School is over 120% of their capacity and is closed to all incoming transfers for the 2024-25 school year with the exception of students transferring in after being accepted to the CFPA specialty program.

Some schools may find it necessary to not accept incoming transfers at a specific grade level as enrollment increases throughout the spring and summer. In addition to the schools that are over capacity schoolwide, the schools listed below are closed to transfers. This list is current as of March 22, 2024.
Parents/guardians should not request to transfer into any of these schools for the grade level indicated.
