The Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Information and Instructional Technology Department provides the technology, leadership, and services to the division to increase productivity and redirect both time and money from manual effort toward improving productivity and efficiency.
The Information and Instructional Technology Department supports the school division by providing and maintaining the technology systems that enable learning, operations, and informed action. This includes student information systems, data engineering and analytics platforms, information security services, and the technology infrastructure that ensures the division operates securely, reliably, and efficiently.
Our department supports the instructional application of software and maintains a help desk service for all users.
The Help Desk is open Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., except school holidays. The Help Desk is closed when schools are closed Code Red. Hours vary on Code Green days based on weather conditions.
AJ Phillips is the Director of Information and Instructional Technology for Prince William County Public Schools in Manassas, Virginia. Ms. Phillips has occupied this position since 2015. She is an experienced educator with a total of 29 years in education, with six of those years focused on instructional technology.
Ms. Phillips received her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from the State University of New York at Oswego. She completed her Master of Education at George Mason University in 1999 and her Master of Science in educational administration at the University of Scranton in 2008. In 2015, she was recognized by the Center for Digital Education as one of the top 30 Technologists, Transformers, and Trailblazers. The fall 2016 Toggle Magazine issue also acknowledged Ms. Phillips for helping to build schools of the future with student achievement as the foundation.
