Family Engagement Series

Focus on Health, Wellness, and Driver Education Information

7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 – Live virtual session

This Family Engagement Series is open to all families of Prince William County Public Schools.

During your summer break, try new, engaging activities and participate in family wellness time!Join us for this session to learn about resources and activities in the community, and to do at home, that incorporate fitness and sports, wellness, and nutrition. Ideas for family participation will be shared. Juvenile driver's licensing requirements will also be shared.


Emily Utter, Prince William County Public Schools, Supervisor of Health, Physical, and Driver Education, Student Learning Department. Ms. Utter has 24 years of collective experience in the K-12 public education environment serving as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal, and is now in her fifth year as a supervisor. Ms. Utter holds a master's degree in Education Leadership and a Health certification from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in General Science from the University of Michigan.

Shylea Michaelis, Prince William County Public Schools, Health and Physical Education Specialist, Student Learning Department. Ms. Michaelis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education and a master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in health and physical education and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Included in her 16 years of teaching and coaching experience in the K-12 environment, Ms. Michaelis has also taught courses at George Mason University. Ms. Michaelis is now in her second year as a specialist.

Parents as Educational Partners Sessions

Our Division offers sessions to help families acclimate themselves with the US educational system. The Parents as Educational Partners programs (PEP) are available at many schools and at our Global Welcome Centers in both Woodbridge and Manassas.

The PEP program includes:

  • School Procedures Information
  • Initiatives to Promote Healthy Youth
  • Rosetta Stone Learning
  • And More!
