Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) is committed to providing equitable opportunities for students. The Research, Accountability, and Strategic Planning Department began developing an Equity Scorecard report after the 2017-18 school year. The Equity Scorecard presents PWCS data in a variety of areas using an equity lens. Data are updated each fall.

The data presentations are grouped into the following topic areas, all of which can be accessed on the menu to the left:

  • Assessment
  • College and Career Readiness
  • Learning Climate
  • Program Participation
  • Student and Staff Demographics

In each area, multiple data charts are presented. Data are most often disaggregated by race/ethnicity, English learner status, disability status, economic status, plus sometimes gender and gifted status. In addition, some comparisons are made at the school level and compare Title I and non-Title I schools.

An initial report was provided to the Prince William County School Board in March 2020. After the 2018-19 school year, the first full Equity Scorecard report was presented at a public School Board meeting. An update to the Equity Scorecard was presented to the School Board in April 2021. Equity Scorecard data were also incorporated into the State of the Schools presentation to the School Board in October 2021.

School Board presentations including Equity Scorecard data can be found here:

The data presented in the Equity Scorecard are at the division level. Additional information about performance at the school level can be found in the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) School Quality Profiles as well as the PWCS School Data Profiles (including data about facilities and teacher quality)
