Participate in Energy Conservation and Sustainability

The School Board and the Superintendent have proclaimed October as "Energy Action Month." View the Resolution (PDF). Here in PWCS, we believe in improving our carbon footprint by practicing energy reducing behaviors to conserve energy and natural resources. PWCS Energy Management and Sustainability uses a multifaceted approach to energy conservation and environmental stewardship through our vision, "Conserving for A World-Class Education".

We encourage all students and staff to participate in energy conservation and sustainability year-round. Nevertheless, Energy Action Month is a great way to get started with practicing good environmental stewardship. Some of the ways you can promote Energy Action Month in your schools and classrooms this October include:

  1. Participating in the annual Energy Challenge (Visit our Energy Challenge Page);
  2. Registering for a PLT Greenschools! Module or National Wildlife Federation's Eco-Schools USA (Visit our curriculum page for more information on PLT or visit the Eco-Schools USA website); or
  3. Starting or expanding your recycling program (Visit our Recycling Page).

In addition, our Energy Education Coordinators are available to teach energy conservation lessons in your classrooms and/or provide supplemental resources for your curriculum.

Please email us at [email protected] for further details on these opportunities and to learn more about Division-wide conservation efforts. Thank you for helping to conserve for A World-Class Education.
