Annual Continuous Improvement Plans

Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) requires every school to develop a continuous improvement plan (CIP) designed to foster student success and promote school growth. Each CIP is closely aligned with the PWCS Elevate 2030 Strategic Plan and is informed by a comprehensive needs assessment specific to each individual school.

Purpose and Structure of the Continuous Improvement Plan

The CIP serves as a roadmap for schools, guiding their efforts to enhance educational outcomes. As part of the plan, schools:

• Set measurable goals that support both academic achievement and equity for all students.
• Identify targeted strategies and specific actions to advance teaching and learning, strengthen school climate and culture, and improve family and community engagement.
• Monitor progress throughout the school year to ensure that established goals are met and make adjustments as necessary.

Focus on Student and Family Needs

This ongoing process ensures that schools prioritize what is most important for students and families. By utilizing data and evidence, school leaders are able to make informed decisions that drive continuous improvement.

Annual Development and Review

Continuous improvement plans are developed, implemented, and monitored on an annual basis. The review process is iterative and responsive to progress, which means these plans are regularly assessed and may be updated throughout the year to reflect changes in school needs and ensure ongoing improvement.
